Each April, communities across the country come together to celebrate National Public Health Week (NPHW)—a time to recognize the important role public health plays in keeping our communities healthy, strong, and resilient. This year marks the 30th anniversary of National Public Health Week, and the 2025 theme, “It Starts Here: Your Health is Our Mission,” encourages all of us to take action to protect and improve health at home, at work, and in the community.
Here in Paramus, we are proud to join in this nationwide celebration. At the April 1, 2025, Borough Council meeting, the Mayor and Council signed an official proclamation recognizing the week of April 7–13 as National Public Health Week in Paramus. This proclamation reaffirms the Borough’s commitment to supporting community well-being through health promotion, disease prevention, and equitable access to care.
Throughout the week, public health professionals, organizations, and residents will highlight key public health priorities, including:
- 🌀 Climate Action: Championing resilience for health
- ⚖️ Health Equity: Optimizing health for all
- 📣 Advocacy: Amplifying voices for public health
- 💼 The Future of Public Health: Strengthening the workforce
At the Paramus Health Department, we remain dedicated to creating a healthier future for all residents—whether through free health screenings, educational programs, emergency preparedness, or community outreach.
